Over the past 3 months I’ve been having a blast dressing up my daughter Nova and shooting her outfits for the blog. Well actually the first month was quite tricky as I had never dressed a baby before and didn’t realise how difficult it was! She was so tiny and delicate that I felt like I might break her wee arms trying to squish them into tiny arm holes. A few times I must’ve popped her into something too small and had to call the husband for help to get her back out. If he wasn’t home I would’ve resorted cutting her out with scissors like they do in the ED. But eventually I learned how to dress her without drama all while keeping her entertained with silly faces and made up songs.
But then there’s a whole new set of challenges once she’s dressed and we’re ready to snap some shots. For example: she’s finally grown into that fab outfit I’ve been dying to shoot and within seconds we have an impressive milk fountain with such height that it reaches and pools in her eyes and streams down into one ear. It’s also all over that cool outfit and rug, so we decide that’s a wrap and and to have a bath instead. These photoshoots have become such a great way to fill in the day, spend time together and keep creative. In reverse order, below are the 1st 3 months of her life in what I call Nova Vogue featuring clothing and blankets that are pre-loved, vintage and handmade in NZ. xx
