Yay, our little babe is now a 1 year old! Watching her grow and her personality unfold the past year has been amazing! But more on that in my 12 Month Nova Vogue Post coming up next week…
The most common advice I was given during the first year was to ‘take it all in, as it goes really fast!’ and they are right! Although Nova has a lot of stylised photo’s I’m worried I may have missed capturing a fair bit of normal everyday stuff. So there will be a lot more snapping with my phone from now on.
Last weekend we threw a party inviting family and friends to dress up colourful and come play.
The party guests are about to arrive! Here’s Nova holding up the book which inspired her COLOURFUL birthday party theme.
Wearing her super soft knit hand made by Aunt Adair
It was great filling up the ball pen with babies! Come on in, drop the kids off and get a drink!
My friend Eden with baby Brecken. I met doing Dunedin markets, she is a talented milliner, making very cool alternative hats, although since having baby Brecken she is now into making baby pants.
Eden made this awesome hat for Nova, but since I have a child size head I think I’ll be stealing it for a while!
Same goes for this cool ‘Noe & Zoe’ crown from friend Jane + fam. At the party, we also found out we might be related!
Nova loves her new gifts from our partygoers! She has repeatably kissed the giraffe, the fluffy Needlebot monster and the Takahe finger puppet. (Anything soft with eyes will set her off). She has also gone nuts shaking the shakers and bashing the drum which is her favourite thing to do in the evening, when she turns into ‘Animal’ from the Muppet Show.
Check out this gorgeous keepsake box made by friend Susan, so creative! But how do you choose what to keep and what to let go of? It’s already full…
Susan and Andrew’s new addition called Leo, all sleepy and squishy faced.
I LOVE this portrait of Nova drawn by my friend Becky Lazarevic, I think it captures her personality perfectly! Becky is a talented illustrator, check out her work here. Excited to be gifted the original print to add to my (small but growing) art collection.
Presenting Nova’s ‘Wall of Fame’ !!
My present to Nova was getting her whole 1st year of photos turned into Instagram magnets. The first thing she did when she saw it was go up a kiss a couple of photos, so adorbs. We have stuck them to a big 1960s night-store heater in our lounge and kids love playing with them.
Party food!
Virginia and baby Chari from our antenatal class. Your turn next week Charli!
Nova learning to blow windmills with mum.
Dylan (Nova’s Papa) made her cake, inspired by our visit to the Obliteration Room!
Aunt Adair accidentally blew out Nova’s candle and I accidentally had the camera set to photo instead of video!
Our friends Helen and Bonnie

“OMG these bubble things are amazing!”
Thanks to everyone who came and shared Nova’s 1st Birthday Party!
